When you came into the world..

After a long nine months of waiting to meet you, your due date was the 28th of April.
28th of April was your late great-nain's birthday, so we were very excited and very naive as we thought you'd actually arrive on that day!
However, you must have been far too comfy inside mammys' belly to come and meet us.

(mammy 22wks pregnant)

Along came May the 10th- me, daddy & nain took the drive to the hospital ready to be induced.
The whole family was so excited to meet you, we finally had a day you'd be arriving.
It definitely didn't sink in to Mammy & Daddy that it would be a few days until we'd be parents.

I was then induced, and oh my gosh- you really didn't want to leave!
Mummy, Daddy, Nain & Nanny were all in the labour room waiting for you to arrive.

After a long 48 hours, a few hundred naughty words, a few hours sleep, and a lot of giggles from the gas and air;
In true Thomas' style- You arrived on Mammys 17th birthday! at 9:13 am, weighing 9lb 2oz.

We were all extremely proud and I thought daddy was about to burst with joy, he cried so much he could have left puddles on the floor!
I was the first to hold you, and I didn't realise I could experience a love so strong with someone I had only just met.

Mammys' valuable bonding time with you fell short, as I didn't feel very well so I had to pass you to Daddy and took the photo above.
Unfortunately, mammy fell really ill and missed the whole first day of your life.

(one of the first pictures of you!)

The next day, when I was well enough to see you- we stayed together in the high dependency unit. The unit was a small very quiet room, this gave Mammy and Daddy time to bond with you.

You were a really big baby, you nearly filled the plastic cot you slept in in the hospital.

We were amazed how strong you were for a newborn baby, you were trying to lift your head straight away!
While we were both in hospital- we had a few visitors; which included-
Nain, Nanny, Bampy, Auntie Claire, Auntie Rachel, Uncle Craig, and quite alot of others..

Everyone was just too excited to meet you!

After 5 long days, we got to go home!
That's when the amazing life as your Mammy truly started..
